PRESS RELEASE
Stockholm,
Membly co-founder takes over and relaunches the platform following bankruptcy
Swedish association platform Membly relaunches today under new ownership. Nino Mengarelli, one of the co-founders of Membly AB, acquired the business from the bankruptcy estate through his company Monile AB in February 2026 and is now relaunching the service as a fully rebuilt platform for more associations.

Membly AB, which offered associations a digital service for membership administration, was declared bankrupt by the Stockholm District Court on 21 January 2026. In February, Monile AB acquired the business from the bankruptcy estate – including the trademark, software and domains – with completion on 27 February 2026, through the bankruptcy trustee, Nils Åberg at Advokatfirman Carler. Monile AB is owned by Nino Mengarelli, who was part of the Membly AB founding team and now runs the service independently.
The new ownership brings a new direction. Where the previous Membly was largely built for membership administration for larger organisations and federations, the new Membly – rebuilt from the ground up – focuses on everyday member communication: a member register, events with RSVP, chat, a feed and notifications in one place. The service is an alternative to Facebook groups, WhatsApp threads and spreadsheets – with no ads, no algorithmic feeds, and no trade in members’ personal data.
The service is developed and hosted in the EU and complies with the GDPR. The relaunch first targets smaller associations in Sweden, then the Nordics and Europe. The aim is to lower the threshold for taking part in associations and the non-profit sector: secure, independent tools with less noise make it easier to participate.
The platform is open to associations at membly.app, with the ambition of becoming the natural digital home for association life – first in Sweden, then across Europe.
“I was part of founding Membly and believe in the idea more than ever. Association life is one of democracy’s building blocks and deserves secure digital tools built in Europe, not ad-funded groups and spreadsheets. Now we start again from the ground up.”
